On a hilltop in the Winterhoek Road cul-de-sac is where you’ll find Fisaasbos, freedom and bliss! The 8-bed cottage with sprawling lawn, giant trees, mountain and valley views, is a weekend-favourite of families and pet owners; with city creatives vying for inspirational weekday ‘work’ stays. The unusual rondawel-style cottage is guarded by the Groot and Klein Winterhoek peaks, with accessible trails leading through orchards and kloofs, up and down mountain slopes, and crossing mountain streams and dams. The yard is spacious and fully enclosed, ideal for smaller children and perfect for dogs. An outdoor braai is set away from the house, in the shade of giant oak trees, and with more magnificent views. Inside you’ll find a fully equipped (and totally retro) kitchen, a lounge with fireplace and dining table, a front stoep, three bedrooms and two large bathrooms. Two rooms have queen size beds, one claiming its very own fireplace and French doors to the garden; the other an en-suite bathroom (bath, shower, toilet). The third bedroom sleeps four on bunk beds while the second bathroom can fit an entire family in the large walk-in shower. The thatch is a godsent in summer while the fireplaces and enclosed sun-drenched kitchen stoep are popular winter hang-outs. Linen, towels and firewood are provided. Additional amenities such as access to laundry facilities, and services such as housekeeping are available to longer stays and on prior arrangement only. Events and birthday parties (up to 30 pax) can be accommodated by prior arrangement only.
